Target + 400 Missoni Products = Good Stuff
Premiering at Target in September, the Italian fashion house known for its knits puts its signature on everything from onesies to two wheelers.
SAVE ON CHIC | Not since Liberty London for Target launched in March 2010 has the big box emporium fallen so head over heals in a huge way for a luxury label—right now Target is madly in love with Missoni. Debuting September 13, Missoni for Target will include a mindboggling array of 400 products bearing the kaleidoscope of colours and unmistakable motifs—chevrons, zigzags, flame stitching and abstract florals—synonymous with the 58-year-old-Italian knitwear giant.
I like Missoni best when it’s somewhat subdued (think fall runway 2011, or these $1,000-plus dresses on Net-a-Porter), which is why I’m not overly enthused about Target/Missoni’s hyper-realistic 60’s-influenced dresses, skirts and sweaters—they’re too much of a statement for me. On the other hand, I absolutely adore the scarves, tights, gloves, shoes, etc. because little hits of Missoni intensity are the perfect accessory.
The Target/Missoni collabo also scores big on menswear (the ties are solid, the socks and scarves are cool, and the one cardigan I saw is similar to ones on the runway), as well as kids wear (love the sleeper and blanket), bath towels and even garden furniture. —Annabel Lee
