Frugalbits For The Win!!

With national nominations for both best online-only magazine and best web design at the 2011 Canadian Online Publishing Awards, everyone in our trenches feels like we’ve already received a prize.

GRATEFUL | This may sound cornball, but being a finalist in two categories at the upcoming  2011 Canadian Online Publishing Awards—best online-only magazine and best web design (consumer division)—already feels like a win to me. Positive national recognition at whatever level is a super confidence booster, not to mention a bonus for business.

I don’t want to jinx our chances of actually winning by swanning around before the prizewinners are officially announced in Toronto on October 24, though I do want to thank the talented and tireless people who have worked to put Frugalbits in this potentially winning position—because none of it would have happened at all without every one of you.

Thank Yous All Around!

Thank you to Felicity Stone, Frugabits columnist, copy editor and sounding board extraordinaire; to tech expert Morten Rand-Hendriksen of Pink & Yellow Media for site development and ongoing tech support; to graphic designer Alex Nelson of Post Projects for fashioning a silk purse from a sow’s ear; to Doris Cheung of Doris Cheung Art + Media for developing Frugalbits TV, making fabulous videos, and for a mini makeover that makes the website POP; and to Casey Phaisalakani for photographing whatever crazy thing we’ve asked her to.

Kudos to our skilled columnists Allison Emery for Stealing Beauty, Brendan Power for D.I.Y., Emily Rossi for Cheap Sheet, Eve Johnston for Five Minute Yoga, Glenys Morgan for Brand X and Melissa Lawson for SaleSpotter (coming soon);  to our writers Belinda Bruce, Ruth Rainey, Annabel Lee, Terri Brandmueller and Olivia Pittman; and to our internet support Giorgio of Vanhit.com.

And where would Frugalbits be without our two Natashas: Natasha Irvine for writing and her killer social media skills, and Natasha Muslih for her involvement with special projects? Also, because Frugalbits is only as good as the last story we ran, I’m forever indebted to my dear friends and fierce story-idea mommas Roxana Palku-Johnston and Teresa Syrnyk—xoxoxo CaR
