Here is where you’ll find everyone’s favourite jock togs at a ridiculously discounted price.
OUTLETS WE LOVE | Generally I put little stock in outlet merchandise, imagining most of it to be cheaply made items by high-end labels looking to cash in on the wannabe crowd, but recently I found myself in the enviable position of cruising through two Lululemon Athletica Outlet stores (one off Interstate 5 in Burlington, Washington, and the other in Burnaby) and I have to say that I was dead wrong about outlet shopping where Lululemon is concerned.
Lululemon’s Burlington store, located 25 miles south of Bellingham in Prime Outlets at Burlington (you can see it from the freeway), is 100 percent worth a visit. Every item in this spacious and awesomely organized store is regular merchandise—most of it is no more than a season old.
Need a tank top for working out? This store has dozens of patterns in all sizes ($29 to $39 US; this week some styles are two for $39). There are racks of sports bras ($34 US) and mounds of pants and crops ($59 to $108 US). Oh yes, and there are plenty of discounted hoodies, pants and shorts for the guys to choose from too (Tom Brady, above, loves Lululemon, too).
Though they don’t have the range or volume of merchandise you’ll find in Berlington, Lululemon’s Burnaby outlet has enough great bargains (I’ve found some unexpected gems here) to make it worth a trip. If you’re lucky to be in the shop when they have a flash sale (where the already discounted product in a particular category is further reduced for an hour or so), the deals will be shockingly good. Some of the Burnaby merch is (imperceptibly to my eye) defective, which is to be expected because, unlike the Burlington store, the Burnaby outlet sells seconds. —C. Rule
