MAKE ME SCREAM | There are plenty of public opportunities to get your BOO! on this week, including houses so haunted they’ll scare the bejesus out of you (Dunbar Haunted House and Fright Nights At Playland are among our favourite scariest). But I’m happy to report that my all-time personal favourite eerie Halloween activity is the torch-lit Parade of Lost Souls Secret Souls Walk, which takes place on Saturday, October 27th, at a mysterious locale somewhere among the back alleys, streets and open spaces around the Commercial Drive area.

The Secret Souls Walk is part of the weeklong Parade of Lost Souls Festival, organized by Public Dreams, a not-for-profit collective of artists from all walks, including theatre, visual arts, sound, music, etc. This year these creatives have invited artists, performers and patrons to explore what the end of this world age could look like: “Will our future be dark and depressing, or bright and beautiful,” they ask?

Then that evening, promptly at 5:30 p.m., eerily dressed volunteers will be situated at these gates of hell to take your $5 donation and set you off on interactive adventure the promises to be spooky-dramatic and memorable. —Ruth Rainey
